NASPA Connecticut Leadership Team Positions

State Director

  • Focus on overall leadership, vision, and organization of the CT NASPA leadership team
  • Support success of the initiatives of CT leadership team members, CT NASPA membership, NASPA Region I and NASPA national office
  • Serve as liaison between the CT NASPA leadership team and the NASPA Region I Regional Advisory Board
  • Share information, ideas, and suggestions between CT NASPA membership/leadership team and NASPA Region I Advisory Board
  • Provides updates at regular board meetings
  • Support the goals of other leadership team members and initiatives
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards

Secretary

  • Takes detailed minutes at all board meetings and send completed minutes to all members of the CT leadership team
  • Assists in the preparation of agendas for meetings
  • Coordinates any public relations/marketing materials
  • Arranges meeting sites and works closely with host to coordinate (i.e. directions, food, parking, etc.)
  • Corresponds with CT board and state members regularly, including meeting announcements, updates, etc.
  • Purchases and maintains supplies when needed
  • Support the goals of other leadership team members and initiatives
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards

Social Events Coordinator

  • Coordinates social activities for CT members
  • Responsible for all logistics of CT NASPA social events working with State Director re: budget
  • Works closely with secretary to market programs
  • Provides updates at regular board meetings
  • Support the goals of other leadership team members and initiatives
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards

Professional Development Coordinator

  • Focus on the creation, sponsorship, and execution of professional development opportunities for the CT NASPA membership
  • Responsible for all logistics of CT NASPA professional development events working with State Director re: budget
  • Works closely with secretary to market professional development opportunities to CT NASPA membership
  • Works with KC (Knowledge Communities) within the state for co-sponsorship opportunities
  • Provides updates at regular board meetings
  • Support the goals of other leadership team members and initiatives
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards

Communications/Social Media Coordinator

  • Coordinates efforts to reach out to CT Student Affairs graduate students and professionals
  • Responsible for maintaining/updating the CT NASPA social media outlets (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram, etc) listing events and announcements on these pages
  • Recruit submissions for the regional newsletter throughout the CT NASPA membership
  • Works with the leadership team to submit one article per year for the regional newsletter
  • Provides updates at regular board meetings
  • Support the goals of other leadership team members and initiatives
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards

Public Policy Coordinator

  • Monitors legislative and regulatory developments affecting higher education
  • Informs the state membership about issues that might affect their service to students and their institutions.  Collects feedback as appropriate.
  • Collects information about state-level legislative initiatives affecting higher education and informs colleagues at the regional and national levels as needed.
  • Attends/participates in state/regional meetings of the Public Policy Division.
  • Provides updates at regular board meetings

  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards

Membership Coordinator

  • Contact all new CT NASPA members via email and phone to welcome them to the organization as well as assist them in setting up their NASPA profile on the NASPA website.
  • Focus on engaging CT professionals within the NASPA community specifically geared towards greater involvement in CT NASPA and NASPA Region I.
  • Work with the leadership team to identify groups of CT professionals who can be targeted to become more involved in and join NASPA with outreach to increase their participation and representation
  • Provides updates at regular board meetings
  • Support the goals of other leadership team members and initiatives
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards

Member at Large - Community College Ambassador

  • Works in conjunction/consultation with Community College Division
  • Works closely with Membership Coordinator to increase representation of community college professionals in NASPA
  • Coordinates programs of interest to community college professionals
  • Encourages community college professionals to submit program proposals for regional conference and award nominations for State and National awards
  • Provides updates at regular board meetings
  • Support the goals of other leadership team members and initiatives
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards

Member at Large - New Professionals & Graduate Student Ambassador

  • Works in conjunction/consultation with Knowledge Community
  • Makes connections with graduate programs in CT
  • Coordinates programs of interest to graduate students in higher education/student personnel programs
  • Develops a mentorship program between graduate students and new/mid-level professionals in CT.
  • Provides updates at regular board meetings
  • Support the goals of other leadership team members and initiatives
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and selection of State nominations and awards
