WISA Response to DACA Rescission

Policy and Advocacy Womxn in Student Affairs
September 6, 2017

This afternoon, we at WISA grieve the news out of the Trump Administration to rescind the DACA program. Like so many institutions around the country, we uphold the beauty, brilliance, and service our undocumented students and colleagues bring to the table. We are ashamed at the attack on innocent lives, both current, and future, and call this for what it is: a grotesque political ploy with no shame in its racism.

As professionals in the field, we reaffirm our commitment to serving ALL our students, no matter their immigration status, race, national origin, faith, sexuality, ability, or gender. We stand with our undocumented students, faculty, staff, and families, knowing that their lives and dreams here matter.

To our colleagues: let this be your call to action. For those able, please write your representatives (tools like ResistBot make it really easy) and, more than anything, be there for your colleagues and students. For those directly and indirectly affected: you are not alone. You are never alone, and this Administration is not the end of your work and your dreams. We will continue to fight with and for you.

In union and power,
The WISA Leadership Team
