Welcome from the Latinx/a/o Knowledge Community

Congratulations Fellows!

On behalf of the NASPA Latinx/a/o Knowledge Community (LKC), bienvenidos! We are thrilled to welcome you to our familia. My name is Ángel Gonzalez and I serve as the NUFP Liaison for the LKC. As one of the four ethnic-based Knowledge Communities, the Latinx/a/o Knowledge Community (LKC) actively promotes the empowerment of NASPA latinx members through education, research, shared knowledge, mentoring initiatives, and the use of online forums to disseminate information and facilitate discourse.

I have been part of the LKC for 4 years now, starting my journey back as an undergraduate fellow myself. While at Whittier College, I was accepted into the NUFP program and attended my first national conference where I was immediately welcomed and cared for by the LKC. I have been very privileged to serve as a NUFP mentor these last 2 years and help establish NUFP as a university initiative in my past role as a Resident Director. Currently, I serve as the Assistant Director for Student Life at Shoreline Community College and hope to further expand NUFP within the community college realm.

As you begin your NUFP journey, stay curious, ask questions, be proud and remember that not many undergraduate students have this experience. You will be provided with a plethora of resources, mentorship, guidance, and support. As a “mentee”, you have an active role in how far you wish to go with the program, take ownership of your learning, reflect and allow yourself to grow. NUFP can be a life changing experience that can lead to your vocation in life with a network of other NUFPs who will be with your every step of the way. 

As the LKC NUFP Liaison, I am here to serve as a resource to you while you begin navigating our large association.
