Voices from the Field

Supporting the Profession
September 26, 2019 Nathan Victoria NASPA

Podcasts have become an easy way for me to keep up to date with what’s going on in the world. Despite my time being spread thin by parenting a precocious two-year two, working full-time, and writing a “little paper” called a dissertation, my podcast playlist remains a stable source for commentary, humor, and great storytelling in my life.

My playlist naturally includes NASPA's podcast, SA: Voices from the Field. SA: Voices from the Field acknowledges that each of our voices can help contribute to a better future by making a better field. We have already released more than 25 episodes, and the full catalog is available for your enjoyment. I want to invite you to help shape the upcoming season by submitting episode ideas or applying to be our next host.

Long-time NASPA volunteer leader, and member, season one host, Dr. Corliss P. Bennett laid an amazing foundation and set a very high bar. We have officially launched our search for next season’s host (or hosts) to continue the conversation! We know chemistry is everything—so we are also accepting applications from hosting pairs that would bring a great interview dynamic to the podcast!

  • Are you a great conversationalist with a pleasing speaking voice?
  • Does the idea of publicly interviewing key players from student affairs excite you?
  • Are you an avid podcast listener, and often find yourself thinking ‘I could do that!’?
  • Do you enjoy sharing your perspective on topic critical to our field?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, we encourage you to apply to be the next host by October 20 to drive critical conversations in the field.

To apply, you'll need to submit your resume and social media handles, as well as your answers to some "get to know you" questions via voice memo files. As this is a podcast, the recorded quality of speaking voice is a key factor. This role includes equipment provisions, tech support, production support, and a stipend. Applicants must be current NASPA members and maintain active membership throughout the term.

Whether you are going to submit an episode idea, apply to be a host, or be a loyal listener, we hope you continue to be a part of SA: Voices from the Field.
