Technology Research, Assessment and Evaluation Innovation Award

The NASPA Technology Knowledge Community is pleased to continue an annual award to recognize and honor our NASPA colleagues who are innovators in the field of Student Affairs through the application of research, assessment, and evaluation of technology related tools and practices.

Technology moves at a very rapid pace, with higher education struggling to keep up with emerging platforms and college student usage and needs. Research, assessment, and evaluation of technology tools, strategies and impact are crucial to root our practices into institutional culture.

This award will recognize high quality research that has aimed to shine a light on understanding technology in higher education and student affairs, as well as painting a clearer picture for effective practices.

Student Affairs Technology Emerging Practice Award

NASPA recognizes the contributions of members who are transforming higher education through outstanding programs, innovative services, and effective administration in technology.

Technology is shifting the way that students and institutions are approaching educating today’s students. As technology becomes increasingly sophisticated and ubiquitous, so do the programs and services that arise on college campuses and in higher education.

This award will recognize those members who are leveraging technology to make real differences at their institutions, in addition to highlighting strategies, programs, and techniques that can contribute to greater development of and support of technological advancement in the profession.

Outstanding Emerging Practices could include things such as:

  • Welcome Week Digital Communication Strategy
  • YouTube Freshman Vlogging Series
  • In-house Built Phone App
  • iPad loan program
TKC Outstanding Graduate Student Award

The NASPA Technology Knowledge Community is pleased to award a deserving member of the graduate student community, within or outside of the KC membership, who has showcased excellence in the promotion and use of technology within the student affairs community.

As Technology becomes its own competency, it is important to recognize the efforts of rising professionals who have leveraged time in graduate programs to become skilled in the use of technology within their work.

This award recognizes a graduate student that has advocated for the competency and demonstrated innovative use of technology within the student affairs field, including but not limited to assessment and evaluation, networking, continuing education/professional development, marketing, research, and more. Understanding the importance of promoting the learning and growth of graduate students, this award includes financial support (up to $400) to assist with costs for the recipient to attend the Annual NASPA Conference.
