Call for Applications: Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice New Professional and Graduate Student Review Board (2021-2024 Term)

September 14, 2020

The Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice invites applications to join the New Professional and Graduate Student Review Board for the 2021-2024 term. Applications should be submited via the application form on the NASPA website.

The journal’s vision is to publish the most rigorous, relevant, and well-respected research and practice making a difference in student affairs practice. JSARP especially encourages manuscripts that are unconventional in nature and that engage in methodological and epistemological extensions that transcend the boundaries of traditional research inquiries. JSARP encourages research and scholarly writing by faculty, administrators, and students through editorial feedback and development of current and future authors.

The editors seek graduate students and new professionals with a strong interest in research and practice to serve as members of this new review board. The New Professional and Graduate Student Review Board will help to create a pipeline of reviewers and authors for the journal and is open to individuals who are new professionals (less than five years in the field) and doctoral students. Members of the board will have the opportunity to review manuscripts alongside more seasoned reviewers and will gain an excellent introduction into the publishing process. An online training will be provided for all members, and each reviewer will receive feedback and support from the editor, associate editors, and assistant managing editor.

Application Requirements:

  • Cover letter describing your education, areas of interest (content and methodological), a paragraph describing why you are interested in the New Professional and Graduate Student Review Board, a paragraph documenting your demonstrated commitment to equity and justice, and what you hope to gain from the experience
  • Curriculum vitae or résumé

Submit your application by completing the application form on the NASPA website.

New board members will be notified by December 2020.

Applications will not be complete without uploading a cover letter and a CV or résumé.
