Learn, engage and advance are not just three words on the NASPA website. These words reflect the commitment and energy of over 15,000 NASPA members who seek resources and inspiration to learn, grow and lead in the increasingly complex world of higher education.
The 2019 NASPA Knowledge Communities Online Publication is one of the places where members can learn about emerging research and trends in the field that help them engage in practices that support and advocate for students. Members also use that knowledge to advance programs that lead to student growth and learning on their campuses.
NASPA’s Knowledge Communities bring together student affairs educators to create and share knowledge about the work in our field. KC’s bring forth effective practices, current research, and emerging trends in student affairs. This publication represents one of the many ways the NASPA KCs create and share knowledge to support our association's strategic plan and the professional development of our membership.
As the NASPA 100 year celebration draws to a close with the 2019 NASPA Annual Conference in Los Angeles, I hope you will take a moment to reflect on all of the good work taking place in the association, and through programs like the Knowledge Communities.
I’d like to extend a special thanks to committee members who worked closely with the authors in reviewing the articles. I am also grateful for the leadership and vision of Ellen Meents-DeCaigny, National Director of the Knowledge Communities, and for guidance and support from Stephanie King, Director of Civic Engagement and Knowledge Community Initiatives at NASPA.
