Commitment to the Profession

Award Type: knowledge community

This award recognizes a student affairs practitioner working in the field of success coaching who has: 

  • made innovative contributions that support the holistic development of those within the communities they work with 

  • represented and advocated for the varying needs of students in this continually changing landscape of higher education 

  • established themself as a leader in their department and work, becoming the go-to person for those they help serve 

 Eligibility 

  • Administrators and other professionals in student affairs and higher education will be encouraged to apply2. 

  • Nominees must have at least threeyears of experience in higher education and/or student affairs. 

  • Nominees must demonstrate their unique contributions to success coaching while enhancing the holistic development of their department, students, and/or adjacent communities. 

  • Nominees must demonstrate the adherence of NASPA professional standards while advancing the field of success coaching 

  • Submissions may represent self-application or nomination. 

 Award 

  • The Commitment to the Profession award will be presented at the 2024 Annual Conference in Seattle.

Nomination Information 

Nominators or applicants will be asked to provide the following information for the recipient be considered for this award.  

  • Length of time as an administrator 

  • Brief citation (100-word limit): Summary describing the achievements of the nominee and how they meet the criteria. In writing the citation copy, please compose it to be read aloud easily at the awards ceremony. 

Provide award rationale:
  • How has the nominee demonstrated the criteria listed in the award description?
  • Evidence that shows how the individual went above and beyond the role of an administrator
  • Two or more letters of support from supervisor, colleagues, employees, or students supporting the nomination 

 Selection 

  • The award recipient will be selected based on the merit of the award, their alignment to NASPA and the SCKC’s values, and impact of their work. The award will be presented at the 2024 Annual Conference in Seattle.
