2025 NASPA Region III/SACSA Mid-Managers Institute (MMI)

Division/Group Events Supporting the Profession Region III AVP or "Number Two" Faculty Mid-Level Senior Level VP for Student Affairs

The Mid-Managers Institute (MMI) is a focused and unique professional development experience presented by a partnership between SACSA and NASPA Region III. It offers an opportunity for mid-level professionals to enhance and develop the skills, relationships, and dispositions that distinguish them in the profession and enables them to make more meaningful contributions to the people and programs they serve. The cost to attend is $850 (SACSA/NASPA Member) or $900 (Non-Member). Fee includes institute materials, lodging, and meals once onsite. You are responsible for your own transportation to and from Wilmington, NC.

About MMI

What is the Mid-Managers Institute? 

The Mid-Managers Institute is an application-based program with focused and unique professional development experiences sponsored by SACSA and NASPA Region III. It offers an opportunity for mid-level professionals to enhance and develop the skills, relationships, and dispositions that distinguish them in the profession, and enables them to make more meaningful contributions to the people and programs they serve.

Participants have the opportunity to learn from faculty mentors, guest presenters, and their mid-level colleagues. Past topics included: managing from the middle, navigating politics and campus climate, strategic planning, synergy between academic affairs and student affairs, professional competencies, and career planning. Participants leave with strategies and skills that will make an impact when they return to campus.

The Mid-Managers Institute is designed for individuals with at least five years of experience as a full-time professional with supervisory responsibility of one or more units and professional staff.

Lodging and Meals On-Site

MMI participants will be staying in an apartment-style facility centrally located on the campus of University of Tennessee. Throughout the institute, all MMI attendees will be housed on a private floor with their own private room and share a bathroom with one other participant. Each will have access to all of the amenities outlined below:

Cost

  •  $850: Member (must be a member of SACSA or NASPA)

For lodging, participants are required to stay in a residence hall on the campus of UT Knoxville. Each participant will have their own private bedroom with a shared bathroom. Each apartment has a washer/dryer, a kitchen, and a living room. MMI covers meals, but participants should plan on covering one meal on their own (during an excursion) while on site.
