Region VI Fred Turner Award for Outstanding Service to NASPA

The Fred Turner Award for Outstanding Service to NASPA, named in honor of former Chair of the NASPA Board of Directors (1958-1959), honors a member who has served in leadership roles at the state, regional, national, and/or international levels of NASPA for a sustained period of time. The Fred Turner Award is NASPA’s equivalent of a lifetime achievement award; nominees must exhibit evidence of at least ten (10) continuous years of NASPA membership and engagement in the association at a variety of levels.

Recipient will receive a one year complimentary NASPA membership at the NASPA Member Institutional rate.

Required

  • Volunteer service to the association via leadership roles at the state, regional, national, or international levels
  • Minimum of ten continuous years of NASPA membership
  • Active individual NASPA membership
  • Current employment at, or recently retired from, an institution of higher education with an institutional NASPA membership in NASPA Region VI

Preferred

  • Progression from entry-level to senior-level leadership roles within NASPA’s volunteer ranks
  • Involvement in multiple branches (e.g., Regions, Knowledge Communities, Divisions and Groups, etc.) of the association
  • Volunteer service that has had a significant impact on NASPA as an association

Nomination Guidelines

Nominating someone is easy! One person should coordinate the submission and follow these steps.

  • STEP 1: Write a letter of nomination
  • STEP 2: Collect two (2) letters of support or endorsement.
  • STEP 3: The person coordinating the nomination should gather the nomination materials then go online to submit. You must upload all of the information at the same time. This person should then submit the nomination letter, letters of support online.
  • STEP 4: Submit the nomination by the published deadline!
