Virginia D. Hardy, Ph.D. is Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at East Carolina University.  In this role, Dr. Hardy is focused on enhancing student success, student learning, leadership development and the overall quality of life for all university stakeholders.  The Division of Student Affairs is comprised of 30 departments/units with over 300 employees.  The Division seeks to contribute to the development of the whole individual by fostering in each student a deeper appreciation of the importance of lifelong learning, individual responsibility, and human diversity.

Recognized for her leadership and civic engagement, Dr. Hardy has been a frequent presenter at professional meetings and is involved in her local and statewide community. Her public and municipal duties include serving on the Electricities Board of Directors, and as a member of the board for the Eastern Carolina Vocational Center, the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Coastal Plains, and the Horizons Board at the Oakwood School, where she serves as chair.  Additionally, she has been a member of the board of the Red Cross of Pitt County, Wildacres Leadership Initiative, the Z. Smith Reynolds Advisory Panel, Greenville Utilities Board of Commissioners, and the Pitt Community College Board of Trustees.
