Dr Saloschini Pillay practices in the field of Clinical Social Work. She has an Honors degree in Social Work, Masters in Medical Science [Social Work] and a Doctorate in Public Administration and Business Management. She has gained extensive experience in the higher education sector, since 1995, initially as a Student Counsellor and since 2002, as Director of Student Support Services, focusing on Counselling, Careers, Disability, HIV/AIDS and Academic Development at the former University of Durban-Westville, subsequently the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is currently the Manager: Student Support Services in the College of Health Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is the President of the Southern African Federation for Student Affairs and Services [SAFSAS], an umbrella body that brings together the various associations within Student Affairs in higher education.
She is a past President of the Southern African Association for Counselling and Development in Higher Education [SAACDHE] and currently serves on its national executive committee.
Dr Pillay is the Chair of the Education, Training and Development Committee of the Professional Board for Social Work in South Africa as well as a member of the Universities South Africa - National Transformation Strategy Group.
