Dr. Melissa Mahanall has been instrumental in the recent growth of Texas A&M University-San Antonio through her role as the vice president for student affairs. Previously, Dr. Mahan held the position of associate dean of student affairs at Northeastern State University, where she spent eight years in higher education administration after working in the business field for a number of years as an accountant and company controller. Holding membership in numerous professional state and national organizations, Dr. Mahan speaks around the world on leadership development, women and leadership and student academic success. She serves as an advisory board member for the NASPA Center for Women, is an executive board member for the International Leadership Association’s (ILA) Women and Leadership Affinity Group, past board member of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) in Washington, D.C., and past directorate member of the American College Personnel Association’s (ACPA) Commission for Commuter Students and Adult Learners. Dr. Mahan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Northeastern State University, a Master of Science degree in business administration from Southern Nazarene University and a Doctor of Philosophy in adult education and human relations from Oklahoma State University.
