Jeanine Ward-Roof, Ph.D.

Jeanine Ward-Roof began her tenure as the vice president for student affairs at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan in February 2014. Prior, she was the dean of students at Florida State University and worked with a number of functional areas and in various roles during her seventeen years at Clemson University. Jeanine also served as a faculty member in the College of Education both at Clemson University and Florida State University, teaching future student affairs professionals. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Communication at Ohio University, attended Bowling Green State University for her master’s degree in College Student Personnel and received her Ph.D. from Clemson University in Educational Leadership. Through all of these roles, she spent the past 29 years working in higher education impacting students’ lives in many positive ways.
She has also been professionally active serving as the Region III director, Region III secretary/treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for NASPA; the president, director of regions, Annual Conference host and monograph editor for NODA (Association for Orientation, Transition and Retention in Higher Education); president of SCCPA (South Carolina College Personnel Association) and as a co-lead facilitator and Board of Trustees member for LeaderShape, Inc. Additionally, she serves as a member of the Michigan College Access Network Higher Education Advisory Board.
Jeanine has also received several awards including NASPA Region III’s John Koldus Award for Distinguished Service and the Outstanding Research Award and President’s Award from NODA. Lastly, she has presented at a variety of conferences and published articles and chapters on topics such as orientation, parents/family involvement, compassion fatigue and critical issues in higher education.
