Doug Thompson is the Associate Dean of Students for the Dougherty Family College, a two-year college at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Dougherty Family College offers structured and intensive mentoring, a core curriculum of liberal arts classes, generous financial aid, and small class sizes to prepare students to matriculate to a four-year college program after attaining their associate degree with minimal student debt. Doug’s responsibilities have centered around leadership for an intensive orientation program, guiding retention efforts, counseling services, academic and career success planning, and creating programs and initiatives designed to enhance student success. Prior to coming to the Dougherty Family College, Doug served as Assistant Dean for Equity & Diversity at the University of West Florida. He is an active member of NASPA and currently serves on the Small Colleges and Universities Division advisory board. Doug earned a Bachelor of Arts in marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University, a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication from Seton Hall University, and a Ph.D. in leadership for the advancement of learning and service from Cardinal Stritch University.
