Vice President for Student Affairs
Florida State University
Dr. Amy Hecht is a proud FSU alumna and has served as the vice president of student affairs since 2017. Prior to returning to Florida State, Dr. Hecht served in various roles at several other institutions including The College of New Jersey, Auburn University, Temple University and Cabrini College.
Her time at Florida State has involved many challenges including three major hurricanes, sweeping changes to fraternity and sorority life, the Yoga Studio shooting, and now Covid-19. Dr. Hecht has led FSU and the Division of Student Affairs through these times with unwavering strength, empathy and integrity.
Amidst all of these challenges, Dr. Hecht has also implemented several new initiatives to help Florida State be a safe, supportive and inclusive environment while helping institution reach the title of Top 18 public university. She has started construction on the new student union, formed stronger donor relations through her Meet the VP program, created a new strategic plan for the Division of Student Affairs, secured more funding and support for mental health on campus, and led a comprehensive re-structuring of the division. She has most recently created two additional task forces, Diversity & Inclusion and Jewish Student Life, to help mold an even more inclusive community as Florida State University.
