Alicia Cantón received her doctor in education by the University of Pennsylvania, has master in business leadership from DUXX School of graduates and bachelor in science and industrial engineering by the University of Monterrey, UDEM.
With more than 18 years of experience in the field of student affairs and higher education in Mexico she has collaborated in multiple strategic projects at the UDEM including the design and implementation of the formative model of UDEM, the quality Enhancement Plan for SACS, the vision into 2020, the innovation of UDEM’s educational model, the personal plan of formation and the design and operation of UDEM’s residential college, among others.
Alicia Cantón is currently the director of student affairs at UDEM and manages six departments that operate the UDEM’s formative model through a co-curricular offer of +80 courses in the areas of leadership, social justice, arts, culture, sports and health, intercultural competence and sustainability and numerous student life activities that serve over 13,000 students every year.
She teaches leadership, system thinking and organizational change at UDEM’s Business School, accredited by the AACSB.
She served as NASPA’s country director for Mexico from 2015 to 2018, NASPA is the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals. Alicia participated in the board of NASPAs region for Latin American and Caribbean and currently collaborates with a group of student affairs professionals for the planning and organization of the International Forum of Student Affairs that takes place every summer in Monterrey City with more than 300 participants since 2011.
