The NASPA Board of Directors recently approved the initial development of a certification for student affairs educators after an extensive market analysis. This analysis raised important questions and insights into how the potential of certification in student affairs might impact life-long learning in the profession. A certification can benefit individual professionals, enhance the credibility and integrity of the profession, and engage student affairs educators in emerging content areas.
This live briefing will introduce the background, rationale, and concept for student affairs educator certification. The presenters will detail the plan for developing the certification program including how member input will be critical in guiding this process.
