Foundation President Almeda R. Jacks
Almeda R. Jacks served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Clemson University for fourteen years prior to her retirement in April, 2006. Prior to holding that position, she held the position of Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students after having worked eleven years in Housing, with the last five as the Director of Housing. While serving for thirty-one years at Clemson University she taught several of those years in the Student Affairs preparatory program in the Eugene Moore School of Education, and still holds a position as a visiting lecturer. She is currently working on a new Bridge program with Clemson University and Tri-County Technical College.
Almeda has been involved for years with professional associations, with great emphasis to NASPA. She presently serves as the Co-Chair for the Campaign for NASPA. She has served as the Region III VP, served for years on the Region III board, and prior to being named President of the Foundation, served as Secretary to the Foundation Board. She served as the director of the New Professional’s Institute for Region III for three years, as well as having served as a faculty member for several years. She has also served as a faculty member for the Mid-Manager’s Institute. Almeda participated in the 1995 NASPA France Exchange, and hosted a reciprocal visit for the French delegation in Clemson, S. C. She also participated in the NASPA Salamanca, Spain learning experience the summer of 2005. She has been a member of ACPA and has given many presentations to NASPA and ACPA audiences. She served as SEAHO President, as her involvement grew with ACUHO-I. She has served on the NASULGC Council on Student Affairs. She served two terms on the executive board for SACSA (Southern Association of College Student Affairs).
Almeda is a frequent consultant on other campuses evaluating student service programs, organizational issues, as well as facilitating retreats and workshops on various subjects. She also assists with searches in the hiring process of Student Affairs positions. She works often with the Commission for the Southern Accreditation of Colleges and Schools performing on and off site visits.
